Trainer: Oxfam GB - Migrant Workers Project
Aim: To raise awareness of the experience of migrant workers in the UK and improve understanding of the support needs of this group
By the end of the day participants will be able to:
- List some of the common experiences of migrant workers in the UK
- Identify which groups of migrant workers make up the national and local population of migrant workers
- Identify barriers faced by migrant workers in accessing support and identify areas in which migrant workers may need advice
- Suggest ways to challenge some of the myths surrounding migrant workers
The course is aimed at:
Advisers and other professionals who in the course of their work provide advice or services to migrant workers.
The course covers basic awareness issues but does not provide in-depth knowledge on migrant workers rights for example enitlements to welfare benefits. For training on this topic, please see our Benefits for People from Abroad
