Introduction to Disability Benefits

Aim: To provide an introduction to the range of benefits available to people with disabilities or who are sick.

By the end of the day you will be able to identify:

  • who may be entitled to a disability benefit
  • the qualifying conditions for Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, Industrial Injuries Scheme and WTC disability element
  • how entitlement to these disability benefits may affect other benefits, including passported benefits
  • identify how and where to claim benefits

 

Level of expertise: Introductory

This course is aimed at new advisers or other professionals who have little or no knowledge of disability benefits, or for those who need a refresher.

Please Note

The course duration is one day and therefore will only provide an introductory overview of disability benefits. You will need to book on additional courses if you require more in-depth knowledge of any individual benefits. You may also wish to consider applying for our 10-day Introduction to Welfare Benefits course.
