Aims: To provide an introduction to the range of entitlements and services available to people aged 60 or over.

By the end of the day you will be able to identify:

  • who may be entitled to key benefits, credits or allowances
  • the qualifying conditions for Pension Credit, Attendance Allowance, Carer's Allowance, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit
  • identify how and where to claim benefits
  • describe how services are working together more closely to deliver benefits and note efforts to improve the take-up of entitlements

Level of expertise: Introductory

This course is aimed at new advisers or other professionals who have little or no knowledge of benefits, or for those who need a refresher.

Please Note

The course duration is one day and therefore will only provide an introductory overview. You will need to book on additional courses if you require more in-depth knowledge of any individual benefits. You may also wish to consider applying for our 10-day Introduction to Welfare Benefits course.
