Below is a list of organisations, other than Manchester Advice, that offer training to advice professionals. Please contact each organisation directly for more information.

North West Housing Law Practitioners Group (NWHLPG) (external link)

NWHLPG offers an annual programme of training courses and events suitable for advisers and solicitors working in housing law. The website is not always kept up to date but you can get details of the training programme by emailing Ben Taylor: bet@glaisyers.com

Community Advice Training Unit (CATU) (external link)

CATU is part of Wallasey Citizens Advice Bureau. It is funded by the Big Lottery Fund to support the development of Community Legal Services by providing accredited training for those involved in advice or advocacy work.

Shelter (external link)

Shelter offers training in housing advice, law, homelessness and benefits. It also trains professionals in management and people skills.

Legal Action Group (external link)

LAG offers a variety of training courses on topics such as Mental Health, Actions against the Police, Crime, Prison, Employment, Welfare Benefits etc. Most of the courses are delivered in London.

The Refugee Council (external link)

Runs training courses designed to support service providers across the UK in their work with asylum seekers and refugees.

Rightsnet (external link)

CPD accredited training on welfare benefits and tax credits. Training takes place in London unless you arrange for tailored in-house training. 

Immigration Law Practioners' Association (external link)

ILPA aims to promote and improve the advising and representation of immigrants. All courses are accredited for CPD hours.

Citizens Advice Specialist Support (external link)

Offers a programme of training courses for advisers and specialist case workers in the areas of welfare benefits, consumer and employment law. All courses carry CPD hours.
