This course is suitable for those involved in general advice work, benefit advice, inexperience people working in debt counselling and other work involving debts.
The basic stages of money advice are covered, from preparing financial statements and prioritising debts, through to helping clients select options and carrying out action plans to relieve debt.
The course is taught by experienced money advisors who have delivered money advice training to many different organisations.
The course has been designed to be taken in its entirety, and priority will go to those who enrol for the whole course. However, there will be some scope for people to sign up for odd days on specific topics.
Course programme:
The course will include the following sessions:
- General Introduction to Debt Advice Work;
- Financial Statements and Negotiation;
- Dealing with Priority Debts;
- County Court Action
- Visit to County Court;
- Basic Insolvency and County Court Hearings
The order in which these days are delivered is dependent on Count Court visit arrangements which may happen after the taught part of the course has ended.
