Accredited courses for Autumn/Winter 2009
OCN Accredited
Manchester Advice Accredited
New Accreditation Arrangements
Following changes to the Open College Network (formerly known as GMOCN - external website), we are now subject to increased administration charges. As a result we will now be required to ask students to pay for the cost of their certificates. The charge fwill relate only to a Welfare Benefits and Benefit Appeals and Representation course and is currently £31.50.
All other Manchester Advice Long Course are receiving Manchester Advice Accreditation only
For individuals who do not require formal accreditation we are able to produce a Manchester Advice attendance and achievement certificate as long as our assessment requirements have been met (please see below)
Please specify on your booking form whether you wish to work towards an OCN or Manchester Advice certificate. We will invoice your organization for OCN certification. If you do not state a preference we will assume that you wish to achieve an OCN certificate and will invoice your organization accordingly.
As well as offering OCN accredited courses we have also successfully applied for Law Society accreditation (CPD points) for some of our other courses which we hope will assist those advisers working under Community Legal Service contracts as well as solicitors.
Assessment
Courses are accredited at OCN level 2 (roughly GCSE) or level 3 (roughly A Level). Assessments are built into the courses. Students are awarded certificates based on their attendance and participation in the training, and their successful completion of assignments. Credits are awarded for every 10 hours of learning (including homework etc).
