A Job Grant is a payment that you may be entitled to if:
- You are starting work of at least 16 hours a week, or
- Your partner is starting work of 24 hours or more a week, and
- You expect the work to last for at least 5 weeks.
It can be paid if you are leaving benefit after claiming Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Incapacity Benefit or Severe Disablement Allowance for the last six months, or if you have been on certain New Deal schemes for part of that period.
Note: There are no longer restrictions on Job Grants for people aged under 25. If you qualify, Job Grants are usually worth £250 for lone parents and couples with children, or £100 for single people and couples without children. To apply, contact your Jobcentre Plus office within three weeks of starting work.
