Training programmes come under a variety of names like "E2E" (Entry to Employment), "Programme led Pathways", "Modern Apprenticeships", "Lifeskills", "National Traineeships", or "Work based training for Young People". All people age under 18 are guaranteed a training place. You should register at your local Connexions office. You will have a personal adviser to help you find the right course.
If you are on an unwaged government training scheme - called "E2E" or "Programme Led Pathways" - you may be entitled to and Education Maintence Allowance of up to £30 week. This is a new arrangement from April 2006.
You may also be able to get the full rate of Income Support if you are:
- on unwaged training, AND
- either you are disabled, OR
- you are living away from home for a good reason
You may also be able to claim Housing Benefit if you pay rent, or, from age 18, Council Tax Benefit, if you pay Council Tax.
