Looking after someone

You may be able to claim Carer's Allowance if you spend 35 hours or more a week caring for someone who gets the middle or highest rate of care component of Disability Living Allowance or either rate of Attendance Allowance.

You don't have to live with the person you are caring for and there is no upper age limit for making a claim. Please get advice.

You may be able to get Carer's Premium or Increase if you have put in a claim for Carers Allowance. This may give you:

You may get the extra amounts even if you are not paid Carer's Allowance, because you already receive a pension at a higher rate. If in doubt, get advice!
