If you are aged 60 years or over you can get free prescriptions and free sight tests.
Claim! - For free prescriptions tick the box on the back of your prescription. For free sight tests tell the optician your age.
If you receive the guarantee credit part of Pension Credit you are exempt from charges for dental treatment, glasses, wigs and fabric supports.
You may also qualify for full or partial help with other health costs such as free prescriptions, dental treatment, help with glasses etc. under the low income scheme. To qualify for the low income scheme the assessment of your income and capital is broadly the same as for Income Support. To apply for help you need to complete form HC1 from your nearest Jobcentre Plus office, Pension Service, post office, dentist or optician, or phone the Department of Health - 0800 555 777.
If you suffer from certain health conditions you are exempt from prescription charges and you may also be exempt from some other charges depending on your health problem - get advice.
