Key benefits and tax credits for families with children
Details of the main benefits and tax credits available for all families with children.
Is your child sick or disabled?
If your child is physically or mentally disabled or has a long lasting illness, you may be able to claim benefits for him or her. You may also be entitled to new or increased benefits or tax credits for yourself as a parent or carer. Don't miss out!
Child support maintenance
This is money paid by the other parent of your child or children, who does not live with you, to help with the costs of bringing up your children. Information about your rights and the effects of maintenance payments if you claim benefits or tax credits.
Childcare costs

Benefits when your child goes into care
If you are a parent and your child is 'looked after' by a local authority after living with you, your benefits are affected.
